Progress Post #23 - March 9, 20183/10/2018 I added highlights to my oil painting and started on the background! I think this week was one of my most productive in terms of my oil painting. Furthermore, I finally sketched out my landscape and hope to paint it this weekend. I'm feeling quite good about my oil painting although the thicc vine charcoal of my past is becoming a problem (it's been tinting the layers I'm putting down). I'm excited for what may come next!

Progress Post #22 - March 2, 20183/10/2018 This week, we learned about adding highlights to our underpainting, and I finished applying all of the shadows! I accidentally put too much vine charcoal on my canvas so my work looks like it has more shadows than it actually does, but I think I can cover those up when I actually paint it. I started on my highlights although I still have a while to go especially since lots of my objects have white in them. So far, I am really enjoying working with oil paints although lots of the materials needed smell kind of awful. Oddly, my paints keep on diffusing whenever they touch my canvas? Like they will spread out farther than I intended them to as if I am using watercolor on damp watercolor paper. This effect makes some of the paint hard to control, but the more layers I add, the less it happens.
