Progress Post #18 - February 1, 20182/4/2018 More and more layers! This week, all I did was add more surface and more paint to my canvas. At one point, my goal for a figure ground relationship became lost and chaos reigned. I also became interested in adding writing to my work. I scratched some letters in and added some graphite around the canvas which I think really adds a layer of depth. The ability to see through the scratches to the color underneath is very aesthetically pleasing to me. Furthermore, I added some gross brown color which I need to cover. I don't think the piece is resolved despite me signing it, and I really want to add some light colored pastels to the very dark areas around the piece. Good news is that I was able to get rid of the faintly France-like shape of my past. I also added a bunch of charcoal in order to create some semblance of a figure.
